Well see how "back" in Detroit it is when they don't even make the playoffs this year. Quote:

![]() Baseball is back in Detroit, and I have followed them for as long as I can remember, even back to that 100+ lose season. This team is built to be Champions, just take a look at their lineup and rotation and tell me it doesn't look good.
Don't compare baseball to horse racing, it is different. Look at the NFL, the Patriots had a few not so good years, then they win the superbowl and ever since have been considered "back". After this year, you will know that the Tigers are back! |

![]() NDman been a die hard Phillies fan for years. Hopefully this year is their
year. The Phils got a solid starting rotation that doesn't have a #1 and a #5 starter. The have two #2 and two #3 and a #4 starter. The infield is solid with Rollins, Howard and Utley. We have a new 3rd baseman in Wes Helms. There is no way Howard will have a season like last year they will be pitching around him to much and Utley is a fabulous player who can do it all. The outfield is ok with Burrel, Rowand and Vicctorino. The man thing with the outfield is if Rowand can stay healthy and Burrel doesn't f-ing stick up the joint. The middle relief is just awful for the Phils, hopefully they don't blow to many games. This is the Fightin Phils, like usually they will dissapoint their fans and will be bitching and moaning by late May. I got tickets for all their interleague games at home and they are playing the Tigers. |

It's just like horse racing, and just like the Patriots (who actually won the Super Bowl, as you noted). They did it once. The Patriots backed it up with other seasons just like horses have to back up exceptional races that are out of line with their regular performances. So just like in horse racing, I will let the Tigers prove it to me. They can beat me all day long. Let them show me that last season IS the new rule, and not the exception that it certainly looks like over a period of time on paper. Then, baseball would be back in Detroit. |

![]() And by the way, I'm actually engaged in this conversation right now, but have to stop coming to DT until after work.
Just like the DWC yesterday, I refuse to know if Vacare wins before I get home to watch the replay at 6, and posts here will ruin it for me. |

![]() Ok, you can wait and let the Tigers show you that they are back. So if that's the case and you are waiting for them to show you something, then why do you have to bash them and say they had one lucky year. Instead of talking trash about them, why don't you wait and see before you pass judgment on them. But, baseball is my sport, and I have been watching the Tigers for years now and knew they were on the right path. My dad had a nice little bet on them in Vegas last year to make the World Series, then he put a little of his winnings on them to win it.
This team is the real deal. And Brandon Inge is the man! |

What fun would that be if I said, "Well, let's wait and see." Picking winners is all about passing judgment. If you don't agree, I'd be hard pressed to take you seriously as a horseplayer. |

ND, You seemed to have passed judgement on them by declaring them the '07 Series winners, why can't B-Dub pass judgement like you did? Can't have it both ways. Not bashing you. Been a Tigers fan since before you were born. Unfortunately, I had to stay home with my Grandma and miss the '68 World Series game my Dad and Mom took my two brothers to. I did make it to the series in '84. Also was at old Comisky April 7, 1984 and saw Jack Morris no-hit the Sox. An absolute blast (roadtripped with three friends) only had a half dozen or so beers thrown on us from Sox fans as we cheered Morris the Cat on from down the right field line. |
