John and Mike,
Please excuse me for jumping in.
Felix M has done a great deal to find homes for retiring horses from FL.
I've never met him. Just heard about his good efforts.
If a horse isn't going to be running anymore, he does his best to find a home.

Playa I know that buddy. The only reason I say that is because I have a friend who breeds em and races some that she cant sell but sells most. She loves the babies she raises as if they are dogs or cats. She has called trainers up before to see how her "baby" is doing. Some will talk to her and some have been very rude to her and said she has no business asking about how the horse is doing. Was just trying to warn you that a response may not be in the positive.

thanks. yeah i imagine some on the backstretch would take it negatively or as a insult. theres a story they show now and again on tvg about a old man who took his winnings a horseplayer to claim some old horse from suffolk i believe and gave the horse a home on a farm somewhere. again i understand theres horses being sent out there to run in bad shape everyday and most do make it back but some dont becuase of the added risk put in. i hope this guy isnt taking any extra risk with danny this week

I find that very honorable. And I have stalls if you need one in VT on a temp. basis.

Me too, Playa, I wish more owners were like you. I'm in Southern Cal, but if I can help you out with a stall, I have an empty big corral right now, maybe we could find this horse a nice new career.

John,
I'm going to the farm tomorrow. I'll try to make some calls and get you a phone number.
If I'm successful, I'll pm you.

thanks guys for the kind responses and offers and wayne it would be appreciated if you can find anything out! most likely they will not wanna sell the horse before the race. im sure if he wins or runs well some will jump all over me here but believe me people some of the horses that you watch and bet on everyday go out there basically half crippled and some of them still win...if some only knew! i wish i was rich and could buy up every horse that needs to be taken off the racetrack but unfortunately im not but like i said i do know this horse personally and if i can save him id like to do so. i just hope this guy is sending him out ok, heres a picture of danny c when he was here @hawthorne last spring
