I agree. But you have to consider it when analyzing how horses are coming up to a big race such as KY Derby.

I dont believe this to be true for horses that have already proven a certain level of ability. For a horse to suddenly jump up and run a huge race that was far better than its previous efforts, then it could be an issue. But for fast horses to run fast, I dont see where it matters.
