Future bet isn't a good idea at all. In order for it to be worth your while the horse would have to go off at huge odds, make it to the derby and be at less than double digits to make it worth your while. The risk doesn't equal the reward. I know there have been exception. Fusaichi Pegasus comes to mind. 8-1 in the future pool and around 9/5 in the derby. I know it seems like a good idea from that last examble but I would have to get 50-1 on someone to justify the risk.

All that said I had a future bet last year and got place. Didn't put a time on Bluegrass Cat ..thought he was over the top and done early. doh!

Wasting your $ on CQ Tabors other horse Ravel has a better chance.
