Default First Hillary now Obama?

Hillary we all know was named after Sir Edmund Hillary even though he was unknown until she was like four. Now Obama has foot in mouth disease. From today's Suntimes,

Dateline: The Exaggeration Line -- In the midst of his visit to Selma, Ala., Sunday, presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama claimed his Kenyan father and his Kansan mother fell in love because of the historic events at Selma.

• • The buckshot: Credit the New York Times with calling Obama's fluff by setting the record straight. Obama was born in 1961, four years before the Selma mayhem occurred. Obama later clarified his remarks, stating: "I meant the whole civil rights movement [brought his parents together]."

My question is why the actual participants in the Selma march don't feel upstaged and used by these two political whores?

I can only speak for myself....I'm use to it! What was done during the movement is a lasting monument to our leaders (Dr King, Jesse and his other lts, NAACP leadership, SCLC etc), those of us who took part in the marches lent our bodies and our passion to the movement...the fact that tribute is paid today, regardless of the political posturing, I feel is both positive and necessary...otherwise, it would soon disappear from the consciousness of the American public...as long as folks remember, change will continue (albeit too damn slow)! Give folks credit for some intelligence....we know who cares about equality and who merely talks the talk!
