I agree it sounds strange to me too. What this move will show us is a small part of something that will have to be dealt with as long as we have a smattering of all-weather ovals and the same amount of conventional dirt tracks. I was very interested in seeing if it seemed like polytrack runners would fare better in the Breeders' Cup. Their performances as a whole were good, I think probably right around what you'd expect. Now you have the question to answer, if you are a trainer, about whether you want your horse to prep on the poly or not.

This move is questionable because over the last few years nothing goes into the Lane's End and nothing comes out. It is in a bad place on the calendar because if you still need one more prep then the Derby will be race #3 in six weeks.
