The internal times at Gulfstream are at times suspect and the closing times are mostly insane. The times in this race were neither. They went the first 1/4 in 22.98 (just about 23) and the second quarter was 48.21.(48 1/5). The next three calls were 1:11.97, 1:35.51,1:41.71. At Gulfstream these times are slow. That 25 and change break should have been enough of a breather for Dreaming of Anna to crush this field. Perhaps Audacious Chloe is a star in the making. A smart syndicate paid 300k for her. |

![]() DOA never looked like she was going well. as another poster said, she had her head up and never looked comfortable out there.

![]() In all likelihood she was a combination of two things....precocious and overrated. Her BC victory was obviously a combination of setting a slow pace on an inside friendly track against a very subpar group. Her turf win at Woodbine was legitimately good but she probably was just ahead of her peers at the time. She's clearly still a good horse but perhaps some have caught up to her. Whether or not she continues to do well with these connections remains to be seen.
To be fair, she may well have simply run into a buzzsaw today. The two of them finished well ahead of the field and in all likelihood it was probably a case of two horses running very well. She attacked the pace a little earlier than the winner but both had decent trips overall. It's not like she got drowned and the result could easily have been reversed. I think she ran better than I expected she would. |

![]() Its 4:5 that she is retired with injury in the next month or two.
Maybe she could race Folklore? |
