I'm taking General Bueno in the 1st race with Gomez riding. This maiden was a beaten favorite last time out and has truf breeding. I really like the trainers % with first time grass starters, they seem to really move up when Peter Eurton moves them to the grass.

Blankety-blank slipped saddle!!!! On the backstretch, he couldn't ride her at all, finished in a scrum at the wire, losing 3rd by a head.

Okay, conspiracy theorists, what do you think of this? Did somebody arrange for that saddle to slip so that another quarter of the field would be elimnated? HMM? We was robbed, I tells ya! <much grinning>

I don't know, but I hope they do it to the 4 horse in this next race to make it half the field...it will have been quite a productive day for us showvivors if that happens! hahaha

Just so everyone knows...no one is winning this thing anytime soon. It took about 25 races last contest to get a winner.

The mindset of this game is messing with my head. It's all about playing as absolutely safe as you possibly can and looking for chalk chalk chalk that seems too good to miss the board.

It's like fishing for $2.10 show prices.

You're daring to take a first-time grass runner

Yes this is really against my rules. Never bet a horse when they are trying something new, like dirt to grass. I have more sucsess with maiden racesand this trainer moves them up when he goes to the grass. Hope I made the right choice.

The key is not really the horse you select(per say.) It is about the competition. There are 3 slots, and if your horse runs it's B,OR C race(or bad trip,) will your horse fight to get 3rd? Of the competitors in the race, how hard is it gunna be to pick up that last slot? You're gunna pick a horse(eventually) who is either not on it's game,or gets a very bad trip.It is going to happen. You need to foresee the possibility, and have picked the situation where 1)your horse cares about fighting for 3rd,and 2)the other horses in the race are few in #,or in fight. This is why I didn't use the the short-field 2nd race.I think if you run a less than average race in there(any of them,)you will get beat for 3rd.On the other hand, yesterday,WAILEA GIRL ran awful........awful.....but it wasn't all about her. There are not that many situations where your horse can run awful, and get 3rd,but that was the horse yesterday that could get 3rd with her C game.Don't think about the A game. You are not gunna get it enough of the time.

Sail on Sunshine in the third - in first drop to claiming, with blinkers and Chavez on, she finally woke up. She can canter along just behind the 5 (who has led and faded at this level already a couple of times) and she can keep going. On pedigree, the 1 figures to be better on turf at 10-12f - by Silver Hawk from a daughter of Chief's Crown and Yellow Ribbon winner Castilla. The rest have been beaten pretty well at this level already. 7 horse field, rock-solid to run 3rd or better.

Well, we're either both in together or we're both crashing and burning on that one together! At least there will be someone to console me if SOMEHOW she runs out!
