Nothing Tesher likes better than scratching. He is out of his mind to scratch from this spot for the Tampa race tomorrow, which not only has more speed, but is an utterly impossible spot for him.

If he couldn't win his last he wasn't winning today but this was far and away the better spot.

Default Steve

Beaming may well win but he has a MAJOR caution sign on his back.

Look at the entire scenerio.....Jimmy Jerkens runs him for $60K in his debut, knowing full well he's a talented horse, as the horse is bet off the board, which means he knows the horse has a major hole in him. The horse runs a winning race, but gets a terrible trip, and gets claimed. He rightfully returns in a maiden special where he runs even more impressively, performing in a manner that probably wins 90% of those races, and yet is immediately back in for a tag. Yes, I understand full well if he wins this race, and gets claimed, the owner makes $25-30K, but this horse showed last out that he can easily win a maiden special, and perform well in conditional allowances, after which he can certainly win restricted claiming races. He could have really been an earner....yet they can't wait to get rid of him.

Oh, he may well win today, but I say invest heavily on him at your own risk.

I can't remember the rule of thumb, when they are on the hedge does it favor speed or closers?

I agree, but maybe the purse/claim/already money earned is enough to get rid of a potential problem

Yes, but that problem makes him a terrible bet at his likely odds-on offering.
