Default Technical Foul!!!!!! Scuds.......Boston played Showtime before LA did!!!!

If it wasn't tough enough with Red passing and the futility streak.......

One of the greatest clutch players of his generation died suddenly from a likely fatal cardiac dysrythmia Wednesday afternoon. Thankfully Dennis apparently passed without prolonged suffering from a V-Fib or sudden death event where he never regained consciousness after collapsing midsentence after a BB practice Thursday.

Dennis Johnson was one of the great defensive players of his era won NBA titles with two teams, made 1st team all Defensive team 5 times, NBA all-star 5 times, 3 NBA titles and certainly gave Magic Johnson more than a few sleepless nights guarding him as solidly as any player in the NBA.

DJ played the game full throttle at both ends of the court. IMO few of the current membership of NBA players that dominate this current inferior brand of so called professional basketball could hang with Mr Johnson in his prime.

The Boston Celtics were the greatest dynasty in the history of the NBA winning almost as many NBA championships during Red's tenure as conquests Wilt from LA is credited.

If the NBA game today had the same team concept with pass and play defense first with the ball rarely hitting the floor as the Boston Celtics (and to be fair the Showtime LA version) played night after night we wouldn't be playing for the Bronze in world competition.

Team ball and USA superiority died when the Celtic/Laker motion games ceased to exist. DJ and Red were major contributors toward securing what was right about the game. The NBA is a far lesser product without guys who played and coached like these two.

RIP DJ........Your final resting will be in the Hall where you belonged all along.

2 of the 3 titles the Celtics won in the 80's was against the Rockets...who beat the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

1988-89-WHO CARES? DETROIT MAYBE
1987-88 Los Angeles Lakers beat Detroit Pistons 4-3
1986-87 Los Angeles Lakers beat Boston Celtics 4-2
1985-86 Boston Celtics beat Houston Rockets 4-2
1984-85 Los Angeles Lakers beat Boston Celtics 4-2
1983-84 Boston Celtics beat Los Angeles Lakers 4-3
1982-83 Philadelphia 76ers beat Los Angeles Lakers 4-0
1981-82 Los Angeles Lakers beat Philadelphia 76ers 4-2
1980-81 Boston Celtics beat Houston Rockets 4-2
1979-80 Los Angeles Lakers beat Philadelphia 76ers 4-2

Let's get this straight...Lakers 5

Celtics.....3

Philly...1

Detroit..1

In the 80's, the Hick from French Lick, and his thug buddies, beat the LAKERS
IN THE FINALS.......1 TIME.........1.........LAKERS beat them in the finals ....2 times........2 versus 1...........5 rings in the 80' s versus 3.Facts are the facts, but people sometimes don't like to hear the facts.Facts are that this was a cheating Machiavellian organization that forced Championship games to be played in sweltering conditions in the Boston Garden. If they couldn't win fairly ,they often would "get more physical." That's what this band of thugs called it when McHale (in response to Carr's pleadings from the bench ) clotheslined a player on the way for a lay-up.That organization (in the 80's) will forever be known as the least classy Professional Sports Organization that ever existed.
