A Left Bank race or two could make this list. As could some by Swept Overboard.

Impressive list. The only one I might question is Discreet Cat. I am not questioning that it was impressive......but underrated? It seems like a lot of people are really rating Discreet Cat VERY highly based primarily on that race and his Dubai victory over Invasor etc. Based on that......I wouldn't call it underrated.

Swept Overboard's giant win in the Met Mile came with a perfect trip---I bet him that day---but it was a very impressive race. His 3rd place finish to KG and Caller One at DMR would be a race that would widely appear on a lot of peoples top 5 sprint races over the last 10 years.
Left Bank--ran two monster races before he died--and won a older male championship. The problem I have, is that the horse he beat in both races, never ran again---and some of the horses behind him didn't run back to their form. Left Bank was off-the-charts when he was right---I'm just not so sure his races were all that underrated. |

Honour and Glory was a really nice horse ( he also won the Met Mile ).
I remember being on the Oklahoma one morning with a friend of mine who's a sucker for info, and we ran into Mike Smith who he was a bit friendly with, and Mike said you can bet my horse in whatever race on Saturday. My friend was far less excited when I told him the 58 work might draw a little attention. To be honest, considering he won by 10 and was a serious horse, the $4 was a pretty good price. |
