If Ramon got through the hole last time, he would have been hailed as hero. He is far and away the best rider in New York, and is a perpetual example of good judgement and smarts on a horse. He rode that mare perfectly last time and was unlucky to have been beaten. It is impossible to criticize him for his judgement in that instance.

I guess your wrong. Here are Ramon's quotes:

I guess it is good judgement that makes you go inside in a five horse race when you have a horse who is atleast a couple lengths the best in the race. And it must be the smarts on a horse that cost him his 10% that race.

Good work on the analysis! Ramon is the best rider in Maryland/Delaware....not NY.

That was as oddly a run race as you will ever see. I would hope the stewards are asking Pablo Fragoso about his ride. Did the trainer of Samsincharge or the rider of a True Pussycat give him his instructions?

Daytime Promise certainly had no chance the way the race was run. Actually, nobody did save the winner.

See, there is no reason to criticize Ramon Dominguez. Just another example of a brilliant rider perfectly judging the pace and having his mount in a prime position to finish third.

Samsincharge, who was the clear speed, easily made the lead and inside into the first turn, however, the 1 and 4 loomed up outside as Fragoso slowed it down. Instead of maintaining the lead, Fragoso for some unknown reason abdicated on the turn and took back to third or fourth, despite a 25 plus opening quarter ( and subsequent 50 plus half ). A True Pussycate, who had been granted the lead, obviously was able to cruise to victory.

Daytime Promise, who has no speed, made a quasi-menacing move from last into the stretch, but had no finish. I guess the lesson to be learned is to win the gifts they give you.

Oh, and to be highly suspicious of what went on during the running of the race. The stewards would be remiss to not at least ask Mr. Fragoso what was going through his mind early in that race.

Do you think Mr. Luzzi should also have been closer to that pedistrian pace? Love Locket has done her best running near the pace.

While Samsincharge made the lead, it wasn't easy as she was pumped fairly hard to get to the front before the first turn. The 1 and the 4 then turned it on and passed her. The jockey relaxed and decided not to go with them: Would you've prefered that he pushed to maintain the lead?
She then sat 3rd inside until midturn and couldn't stay with the top 4.

The jockey didn't really ask her from early stretch to the wire.

Seems to me, if she went, she definitely loses and Daytime Promise (very nice, sharp, wide but PREMATURE move on the turn) wins. So she sits a decent trip and still loses. Which kind of leads me to conclude that she wasn't much today.
