Who is crying about American Ivy (golden gate yesterday) today. I'm sure those close to that horse feel like S**T today.

Thats an excellent point. What about poor Energy Czar at SA in a race after the Sunshine Millions? That was a nasty breakdown. Barbaro would have undoubtedly been put down had he been a 40K claimer rather than a KY Derby winner immediately following the Peekness. Its an unfortunate double standard that comes with this sport.

you're right, it is a double standard. it would be nice if they were all savable. but since they all aren't, i don't think the ones who try should get grief because others don't.
how many aren't saved that could be? plenty. and that's a damn shame. but who will put out the money, and save a horse who won't step on the track again-and has no 'value' in the eyes of the owner?

not all owners have the funds that the jacksons have. would the jacksons have tried had barbaro been a claimer? i don't know. i'd like to think they would....or maybe i'm just being foolish.
