You might be entirely correct in your analysis of priorities.
To me, I wouldn't put racing record first. Some others don't either.
Mary Lou Whitney's broodmares are unraced. Pedigree plays a larger factor.
I've bred several to a son of Dayjur that got injured before he raced. However, his conformation justified his 500K purchase price.
We'll just have to wait until this spring and summer to see how they do on the track.
In breeding, I look for a sire that compensates for the dam's weaknesses.
Just my two pennies.
Also, go back and read Pgardn's post. I think he's right.
