Nice pick and very logical considering the Oaklawn Handicap, but that one is a real head scratcher, at least to me. I've been to Oaklawn twice this year. Did terrible the first time. Went last Saturday and hit 3 tris in a row, although one of them was on Thorpedo Anna and it returned a couple of dollars short of my bet. Not sure of the forecast, but couldn't have been nicer on either trip that I took.

Are there plenty of seats at Oaklawn, Cal?
Is there a grandstand or clubhouse section outside or is everything inside?
Is there a restaurant with a great view that you may recommend?

I have a buddy who really wants us to go. I keep saying maybe next year...but I'm kinda running out of years!

I would say that most days there are plenty of seats. I went on Rebel day and had reserve seats, but really didn't need them as the attendance wasn't all that many people and went again on Apple Blossom Day without tickets for reserve seats and it was pretty much the same thing. Arkansas Derby day is different though and reserve seating usually sells out way in advance. There is no section outside with tables or benches, but there is an infield section where they have set up tents and I think there is seating there. As for a restaurant, there is one that provides a buffet and has tables that you can view the track from and each has a small tv monitor I think. Not sure what they call that or how good the view is. Weather was great both days that I went and I was impressed with the beauty of the infield. Very green.

You might want to check out their website for info on the amenities and their new hotel which overlooks the track. No occasion for me to stay there since I live just outside of town, but can't imagine it being bad. Probably like something you would encounter in Vegas.

I just looked at their website and there are pics of the restaurants. One is called the Oaklawn Jockey Club. Looks like they have expanded that area and changed it up a bit. No table monitors, but some large screen monitors and other smaller monitors in different places and some areas do have a view of the track. There is another restaurant called the Bugler. Have no clue about that one.
