Very nicely done RQ. That was a very strong win, and Ali had an real quality place.
Just a thought about this weekend's venue. With 4 weeks to go until the Breeders Cup, many trainers are using this weekend for their final preps or to qualify. I think it would be possible to have a contest card of nothing but "win and you're in" qualifying races if you and Digger could tolerate the hassle of scoring races from 3 different tracks. It would be a great way for all of us to begin looking toward the BC. I'll applaud whatever choice you make, but just wanted to express this idea. |

If it's ok with Digger it's ok with me. It's probably the last great stake card we'll see before the Cup. JB could you set the races and order. I have no idea what races are included and in what order. Thanks.

I don't want to usurp your prerogative, but I'll be glad to come up with a suggestion for you in the next hour or so.

RQ, here is one possibilty of a "Breeders Cup Prep" contest card. Of the ten races, 8 are "Win and You're In", and the other two have in the past been classic races in their own right and could easily have a couple of BC pointed entrants. I'll point out those that are not "Win and You're In". Here's the list:
Belmont at Aqueduct: Race 7 - Frizette - 3:17 PM (all times set forth will be based on Eastern) - 2 year old fillies - (10 entries) Race 8 - Champagne - 3:49 PM - 2 year old colts - (10 entries) Keeneland: Race 6 - Woodford (NOT a Win etc.) - 3:40 PM - 5 1/2 f on turf - $350,000 purse (12 entries plus 3 also eligible) Race 7 - Thoroughbred Club of America - 4:12 PM - 6f for f&m - (7 entries) Race 8 - First Lady (NOT a Win etc.) - 4:44 PM - 1 mile on turf for f&m - $750,000 purse - (11 entries) Race 9 - Breeders Futurity - 5:16 PM - 2year old colts - (11 entries) Race 10 - Coolmore Turf Mile - 5:48 PM - 1 mile turf, 3 and up - (9 entries) Santa Anita: Race 3 - Oak Leaf - 5:00 PM Eastern - 2 year old fillies - (8 entries) Race 8 - Rodeo Drive - 7:30 PM Eastern - 1 1/4 miles on turf for f&m - (7 entries) Race 9 - American Pharoah - 8:00 PM Eastern - 2 year old colts - (7 entries) This does have a greater emphasis on Keeneland, but their opening weekend usually results in a very large number of BC runners, and Keeneland can be beautiful on early October. No pride in authorship here, just a suggestion that I hope our players might enjoy. I know I would. It's still your choice as the points winner. Two additional thoughts (1) The race order ought to be grouped by track, not by post time of race. That should be less confusing for players and easier on the scorers. (2) While you have been very generous in letting players include other races from the card in the ROI contest, it seems excessive to let that occur when three tracks are involved. I'd recommend limiting the ROI to only our contest races. Makes it a little more difficult for those who want to play horizontal exotics (pick 5 and the like), but I think we can find wagering opportunities in these races. |

Score me up with this one. Long as we have players who want to play let's play and I will keep the score.

Ok JB. Digger has weighed in and an all stakes BC card looks good. You can post the threads at your leisure. Late post times work good too so nobody has to rush their picks.
