How many days does he thing the average American working parent works?), what warrants a thread being started? One single day being taken off by the newly Democratic Congress for freshmen Senators to get back from orientation and for a football game (I notice the "freshman orientation" part is being left out of a lot of posts on other sites about this- I doubt, were it just the football game, that the day would have been taken off. Again, bad PR move on their part, because "football game" makes better press than "freshman orientation"). At this point, it seems like much ado about nothing. In a few weeks, if they are back on the Republicans' old two-and-a-half day schedule, you bet I'll be spitting mad. Because they ARE my party, I do hold them to a higher standard.

We'll see about the tax cuts thing-- looks promising, I agree, but I ain't getting my hopes up until the votes are cast. Well, fingers crossed. Thanks for posting that link, Danzig.
thanks GR...i really wasn't singling anyone out, it was definitely a generalization.

but i'd rather have taken tomorrow off myself, sleep off all the beer....

just seems like whatever party is in control does whatever the other did before, and got blasted for....

Danzig,
Since I've come to my senses, like you, I hope to be as "fair and balanced" as you are.
I'm totally with you on the get "blasted" idea. Have another beer.
Did you notice I'm not posting any more common dreams stuff?
"Fair and balanced" I am too.
Are there any UFO sightings going on in Arkansas?
Report 'em if you see 'em...."esoteric".
CHEERS!

never seen a ufo, don't plan to. but i don't believe in ghosts either, so....
but there is a guy who works with my husband who swears he was abducted.

as for beer, i'm really not much of a drinker--glass of wine on occasion, bloody mary once in a while. so most of the time when i talk of drinking, it's joking....
as for politics--hadn't been much in the mood to discuss it lately. just seems like the same old stuff.

but, new congress, new ideas--hopefully some of them good ones.

I do like beer, but have a condition called cheapdateitis, so I'm not much of a drinker, either- two beers and I'm past done. Though in NYC, that's good for my pocketbook!

cheapdatitis? hmm...i bet that disease is pretty widespread!
i like those smirnoff bottles, kind of like wine coolers.
also LOVE mudslides and pina coladas, but they're hard on the diet, so i avoid them except on very rare occasions. haven't had any of those since vacation.
i think i'm about where i want to be size-wise, just trying to tone up more. but drinking won't help THAT at all.

UfO's...some here have seen them. It's in esoteric.
Drinking...sometimes. I knew you were joking. So was I.
Politics...same old is right, but give the new ones a couple of weeks.
The "surge" is getting lots of heat.
We'll see.

Me too (about taking tomorrow off) and I don't even watch college football!

In this case, though, the Repubs seemed to get away with it until the Dems announced they were starting a five-day (really a four-and-a-half day, let's be honest on both sides here) workweek when they take over in January, and then it seemed like the whole country went, "What? You've been working how many days the past few years? I don't think the Republicans got blasted at all for that particular example of a bad work ethic until after it was announced it was ending.

Which is not to say the Dems should get a free ride if they end up instituting the same workweek. Let's give it a few weeks. If they start working Tuesday night and ending Thursday afternoon, too, I'll be screaming louder than anyone.

i'm surprised it's just now come out what the republican-led hours were...here lately is the first i'd heard about it. it's an outrage.
but hey, if this is the most heat the dems ever take, they'll be doing good!
