![]() Every week it seems like a daunting task to come up with a decent play, but I guess you just have to have faith and fire away and sometimes good things happen. If I had thought about it very much, I might have talked myself out of the play on Pounce and I imagine that some folks did because of the outside post and going up in class, but she looked like a standout to me. At least on paper and she proved that sometimes ability means more than class. It was a lucky play for sure and I probably won’t hit another like it for quite a while. Anyway, thanks for the kind words to everyone that made them.

![]() Joly, your use of the word "perspicacity" made me laugh. It's not a word you see every day and probably one that I would avoid because I know I couldn't say it without tripping over my tongue. Seems like it belongs in the old tongue twister category along with "Peter picked a peck of pickled peppers."

![]() In a much earlier phase of my life, I was actively involved in sports car rallies, usually as a contestant but occasionally as the course organizer. I rallymastered one event for the New England Region of SCCA in 1974 or so that required the contestants to very carefully apply the instructions to properly follow the course, and created situations in which the failure to do so would lead to timing errors or off course excursions. The event was called "Perspicacity." |
