![]() Congrats to Alli on an outstanding win.
Digger, while it wouldn't have made any difference in the final results, Race 2 only had 4 runners after the late scratch of the ML favorite. As such, under our rules it shouldn't have been included in the points scoring. |

What good reason is there for this rule when you still have 4 runners? Last edited by Digger : 01-11-2024 at 02:49 PM. |

![]() Digger, in this instance, I don't think that the change will have much, if any, impact on the overall results.
Your question is a fair one. I don't know the exact reason for not scoring races with fewer than 5 runners. That has always been part of the rules we play by and over the years we have lived with it. I'm only guessing, but perhaps the writer of the scoring system felt that a race with either 3 or 4 runners would lead to players gaining many points for a race with few alternatives, that making only a small difference in one's selection could create large points differences, and that could have an unfair impact of the final results. Not completely unlike the way that many tracks eliminate the trifecta or superfecta pools when the field size falls below a certain number. |
