![]() I thought this was as simple as Shug thinking the waters in the sprint/ mile division, especially the Jerkens, are going to be far too deep for him going forward. The Swale was kind of a joke and he was the luckiest of winners of the Pat Day. Fort Bragg ran much better in defeat.
Ultimately I’m not sure he’s that good anyway but this seems like a pretty realistic spot for him to see if he can be a force on turf going forward. |

![]() The Swale field was not very good and GJ got a perfect setup to win the Pat Day. I don’t see anything wrong with running him on turf.

Yeah, I guess since those races weren't reviewed by the Graded Stakes Committee it's still questionable whether General Jim can even handle the turf. Quote:
On the other hand, if you were a Triple Crown winner (Secretariat)...not so weird. If you were a Derby-Preakness winner (California Chrome)...not so weird. If you were a Kentucky Derby winner (Swaps)...not so weird. How about Lure, Round Table, Prized, Bien Bien, Da Hoss, Tight Spot, Olympio, Showing Up, Nobiz Like Shobiz, Hawkster, Quack, Anet, and Sidney's Candy? It's so weird, man... |
