Don Guido, I know that the track choice is one of our mandatories this week, but have you given any thought to which races should be on our race card?

Churchill Downs has a very full card for Derby Day. They commence at 10:30 AM and don't finish until 8:30 PM. The 14 race card suggests numerous trips to the ATM during the course of the afternoon.

I wonder whether something less than the full card might be welcomed by many of our players and by our scorers. The final two races appear to be designed mostly to keep some fans at the track while the vast majority head for the exits after the trophy for the Derby has been presented. Alternatively, some might be less than enthused about the first couple of races. Fortunately, the stakes races on the undercard are as good as you will find anywhere.

Could you please give us some guidance so we may sharpen our pencils as get to work on what should be a great day of racing.

Sure. They never need to have their batteries recharged.

I'll confess to using highlighters and markers on the pp's also, not unlike the way I highlighted my textbooks and case notes oh so many years ago. You might need an Egyptologist to make any sense of them.

And besides that, I think they might be biodegradable. I'm surprised the more environmentally conscious among us, haven't come out with a ban on ball point pens since they are plastic and they seem to be having babies, at least in my household. I can never find a pencil, but there are armies of pens in my house probably because of the fondness of businesses finding a cheap way to advertise on them. Usually, if not used fairly regularly, they dry up and have to be thrown away so end up in the trash and eventually in the land fill along with tons of other plastic.

Agree JB. I'll look at a Race for a later start and put the threads up for the really early birds. And my pencil is always sharp and ready to play!!!
