Default Venue for 7/9

As usual, the best racing seems to be in New York at Belmont Park with a couple of Grade ones on Turf so lets go there. All 11 races.

Excellent choie Cal. I think we may be spending many Saturdays at The Spa soon. Oh I how wish Patty and I could be there in person.

But we have been there many times before and once with a perfect meet up with JolyB and his grandson, I believe, in 2013 I think (Joly can confirm both). Patty always heard me spewing accolades about JB's handicapping prowess and she was there as well. It was a grand day at The Spa.

JB and I have alot in common and we have become close long distance friends over the years. And I've learned that even a better person than a handicapper and at that, he's one of the best.

Don, I appreciate your kind comments. I do very happily remember meeting up with you and your delightful bride at the Spa near the end of the 2013 season. I was introducing my oldest grandson to the sport of horseracing and the art of handicapping (Grandfathers have an obligation to that). As I recall, the two of you cashed a nice win ticket on Alpha in the Woodward and went home winners. I should have listened.

Only one week from today we will be joining in the call of "and they're off at Saratoga!!". And my days will begin with the pleasure of reading the Saratoga Special, which I understand will be returning to its pre-Covid level of coverage.

Saturday's card at Belmont should provide a very useful warmup for the Saratoga season, with the added benefit of watching Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori ride for Aidan O'Brien and Charlie Appleby in both the Oaks and the Derby. Should be an enjoyable day of racing.

Thanks for reminding of the win ticket. I rarely win much at the track, do pretty well here but most any track psychs me out for some reason, thus I am no pro.

If we could live in Saratoga from July to September every year we have left, we would have already died and gone to Heaven. To us it's magical and we could take side trips on dark days to other points we know of in the beautiful Adirondacks. Rain or shine, there's noplace like it.
