I MUST HAVE ANCHOVIES AT ANY COST
~~~~~ BUT DEFINITELY NO EEL
PIZZA WITHOUT ANCHOVIES IS JUST A BUNCH OF CHEESE + TOMATO
Sorry Ruffian, Eel it has to be or it wouldn't be "DonGuido's Hudson River Eel Pizza, It's Eely Eely Good". You'll just have to pick the eel off and give it your cats but I will add extra anchovies for ya. I don't have anchivies though.
Enough pizza talk, let's get some spirited talk about who will win and why. I have no clue since I've been lying low for the past weeks. And who are the real live longshots for a possible upset. Sure, I can read or hear about it from the so called Experts but i trust everyone here more.
Post position draw will be on Monday (didn't it used to be on Wednesday in past years?) for both the Oaks and the Derby. After seeing exactly who will be running and from where, we will have plenty of time to overanalyze the race.
Knowing that a Hudson River Eel pizza is on the line, I'll 'cap extra diligently. Just hope it is from that part of the Hudson that has been cleaned up from the hazardous waste discharges of years gone by.
Ever since the Lexington, I've been trying to talk myself into believing that Tawny Port is truly fast enough to compete with this group. At this point, I like the horse and connections (and the likely price) very much, but know that he will need to run even better than his previous races. I do think that there is some upside to him. Hmmmm.
JOLY
“… Post position draw will be on Monday
Originally it was Wednesday
~~~ Then it was Tuesday
~~~ Now it’s Monday
I called the track to be sure it wasn’t a misprint
He said they moved it to allow more people to get their information in
The actual DERBY draw won’t be till around maybe 2 o’clock
I think he said they start the draw for all the races around 11 AM ET
OR
Call The Racing Office there to ask
I pulled this from a press release on the CD website. They have things timed down to the minute - even allowing 8 minutes for "banter".
Can't find any network coverage, so I guess I'll need to watch online.
Format:
 2:03-2:06 p.m. – Introduction (Buttleman Call to the Post / Stone)
 2:06-2:09 p.m. – KENTUCKY OAKS: Pill pull for 1-7
 2:09-2:11 p.m. – Brief interlude #1
 2:11-2:15 p.m. – KENTUCKY OAKS: Pill pull for 8-14
 2:15-2:17 p.m. – Brief interlude #2
 2:17-2:20 p.m. – KENTUCKY OAKS: TwinSpires.com Morning Line Odds by Mike Battaglia
 2:20-2:22 p.m. – Brief interlude #3
 2:22-2:30 p.m. – Banter
 2:30-2:32 p.m. – Welcome Back (Buttleman Call to the Post / Stone)
 2:32-2:40 p.m. – KENTUCKY DERBY: Pill pull for 1-10
 2:40-2:42 p.m. – Brief interlude #4
 2:42-2:50 p.m. – KENTUCKY DERBY: Pill pull for 11-20
 2:50-2:52 p.m. – Brief interlude #5
 2:52-2:55 p.m. – KENTUCKY DERBY: TwinSpires.com Morning Line Odds by Mike Battaglia
How to Watch: The Kentucky Derby Post Position Draw will be streamed live on www.KentuckyDerby.com and televised live in
Louisville by NBC affiliate WAVE-3 and other various other local and national outlets.
I liked Tawny in the Lex, but as the talking heads say, "the waters get a bit deeper here." I think the interesting thing to me is I wasn't all that impressed with Cyberknife because the Arkansas Derby seemed to be one of the slower editions of that race in recent memory and his stablemate Zozos got a better figure in the Louisiana Derby racing at nearly the distance of the Derby beaten only a couple of lengths by Epicenter and I think that one set a track record, so how bad can Zozos be? But here's the thing that might give a person pause on Zozos and Tawny, Geroux rode all 3 and he goes with Cyberknife which totally muddies the picture on the Brad Cox runners.
Cal, the talking heads couldn't have said this any better. Like usual I'll study the PP's like I do every race and see how they run. Like going into the Super Bowl, the College Championships or the World Series . . . it's just another ball game.
Default Un Ojo ==> Out Of Derby
Dreams of a Kentucky Derby (G1) victory were dashed for some and sprang to life for others May 2, when Un Ojo was declared out of the race due to a bruised foot, allowing Ethereal Road to enter the body of the 20-horse field.
Whatever floats your boat on those deep waters. In some respects, it is the same as any other race, but it is different in one unique way and that is the field is almost twice as big as any other race in North America which might be a reason to approach it differently in handicapping and betting or maybe not? Most of us here tend to do as Darryl Royal once said and "dance with the girl what brung us."
Ye1 JB, my pizza eel is certified by EEG (Eely Eely Good, LLP) and guaranteed to be free of hazardous waste, radioactivity, and lethal bacteria with eels being caught in the crystal clear and meandering Hudson River waters far north of Albany.
