Best wishes for possibly injured horses! I bet on Howling Time for real but quickly canceled it when I saw him loading into starting gate with sweat dripping down inside of hind leg, that's an always automatic cancel if I can bet.

Howling Time was not one of the two horses who were involved in the spill near the quarter pole. High Oak was the one who fell after clipping heels, and then the other Bill Mott horse Galt apparently jumped over him and unseated his rider in the process. Both of them were able to walk off, as were their respective jockeys.
Eclipse was very astute to cancel the ticket on Howling Time, since he just didn't have his mind on running. He broke near the back of the pack and never really improved his position. The chart simply says, "never reached contention." |
