I remember my first fall the most...it took forever to hit the ground. My pony bolted and every few strides I lost a stirrup and rein. I seriously just wanted to get it over with, but couldn't imagine employing the skills you are taught in learning to fall, so instead I landed on my neck. 12 hands may not be very big, but when you're meeting the ground it seems a very long trip!

It's a long way down for sure! When you get the wind knocked out of you it seems as if you're still landing, too. I haven't fallen in several years, but the last time I fell, I fell off of a 17.3 hand hanoverian. I didn't think I was ever going to hit the ground. LOL

I used to wish that I'd fall and break my nose so I could get a nose job (only way insurance will cover it.)

I have a scar on my stomach from a weanling... he got me with both hind hooves! Thank God he was too young for shoes. Knocked the wind right out of me.

My sister broke her nose and we joke that she wouldn't be so beautiful if she hadn't. LOL

The first time I fell off was actually my first time on a horse. It was a warning sign from God that I didn't listen to saying don't ride the horses!...lol. I was very very very young, and on an old horse. Well, he tripped up and being an inexperienced young rider, I went right over his neck. He wan't very big either...about 14 hands...Thank God.
