Could this have possibly been the worst major prep in the history of racing?

Outwork would have won by 7 lengths against this field.

I realize that he was bred by your beloved Phipps (like today's runner-up Dynamic One), but you were aware that Trojan Nation was an 0-for-5 maiden when he got beat a dirty head by Outwork in that Wood, right?
A few months later, he was able to break his maiden (on the turf), adding a maiden special weight to the fine list of accomplishments (2 first condition allowance races and a Grade 3 stakes) registered by the other horses in the 2016 Wood the rest of the year... |

I have never and will never consider the Jeff Ruby as a major prep.

His West Coast inferiority complex makes him hyper-sensitive to things that happen in the racing capital of the US

So let's see. I grew up in Memphis then South Carolina. No pro teams. For most NFL fans that grew up in the 70's and early 80's, if your hometown didn't have a team, you latched onto the Cowboys, Steelers, or Raiders. Because I was closest to Dallas and would always go down there with my grandma, and because I was enthralled with the Ewing family from the most popular show in tv at that time, I went with Dallas. But hey, all those Super Bowls we've won in the past 25 years really help.
My mom moved back to LA in 1980 so I was out there every summer. I had already been going every summer to see my grandparents. Even moved there as an adult. There is a team there that has won 18 titles, 11 of them in the past 41 years. You may have heard of the Lakers. Meanwhile, my team has won four in that same time span and went 22 years without one. But yeah, I guess picking Boston makes me a frontrunner. I was seven when I started watching baseball. As a kid, the most popular player in the game was Reggie Jackson. They were on tv all the time, he had my same name, and hell, I could even pretend that the candy bar that was named after him was actually named after me. But hey, you're right. I only picked them cause of all the titles they won in the 20's and 30's. Classic front runner. Again, I mention that I had a connection to LA because of my family. There was a pretty good college football team there at USC and a good basketball team at UCLA. Two national powerhouses. But did I chose them? Nope. I chose Duke because we played with those guys and that was before they had won their first title. I chose the Miami Hurricanes......because they had style and yep, you got me, cause they were the best team when I got really interested in college football. I guess you made your point. As usual, you got me.

Easy. First basketball game my dad ever took me to see was Boston and Dallas. Boston won, they had Larry Bird, and it was a no brainer.
Growing up in the late 70's and early 80's, everything about Dallas was full of glamour. The TV show, the Cowboys, their cheerleaders. Since my name is Reggie and the Yankees were winning World Series titles at the time I started watching baseball, I was a Reggie Jackson fan. Duke because I went to high school in South Carolina and our team was pretty damn good (#7 in the country my junior year). We'd go up to Durham on weekends and play and could always get in games cause our center was first team all-American and was highly recruited. While the UNC and NC St guys were usually assholes to us, the Duke guys never were. We spent a lot of time playing with those guys that went on to the championship game in 1986 and were the foundation of what Duke is today. Johnny Dawkins is still today one of my five favorite players.

Love that place. Love affair started as a kid. Wife and I had decided to move there before she passed. My job started a training school there and sent me there. Loved it.
