Don, thanks very much for stepping up and doing the points scoring. Congrats to you on winning a very low scoring event. [Who picked that track anyway??] Alli, it's great to see you again and well done on your second place finish after a bit of a layoff.

For what it's worth and maybe not much, I did the calculations too and came up with almost identical results except I had Joly and Ruffian tied for third which would give RQ the Super spot, but I too make math errors and sometimes miss a score.

Do the results factor in the write in ballots?

I have our legal team looking into it. Lets hope we get this certified before the next contest. If it involved the winner that would be a REAL problem!!!

I'm sure that our legal team [perhaps the firm of Dewey, Cheatham and Howe?] has more than enough to keep them busy without spending time on this investigation. Let's have as good a Thanksgiving as we all can and think about our next contest instead.

I fired Dewey for insubordination and hired a lady lawyer, Ima Gunna, to take his place. She's much more decisive than Dewey was. And yes, lets all have a fun, safe and responsible Thanksgiving!!!

It is fun to sow discord and make baseless claims as we've seen in the world at large, but in this case, I imagine that I probably just misinterpreted the rules or didn't count a score. Probably just an error on my part and if I was guessing, it might be an exacta score, that seems to be where I make the most errors. Not that big a deal. As some would say "what's in it for me?" other than just curious how to score things right. I'll go over the scores in question and if I can't find the error, I'll send them to you Don and you can school me on it unless you are so busy with Turkey day preparations, that you can't get to it.

I have been playing for ten years and after all these years I still have no clue how to score a points contest nor have I ever tried to. All I know is if the totals are low I have a punchers chance.

Other than that tempest in a teapot, does anyone know what happened to Roamin? He's usually the first in the gate. Things seem amiss when he doesn't show up. Hope he's not sick. Sorry, just being my usual OCD self.

Yes, I was wondering about him too. And we are missing Cruzan and Plenilune. Plenilune is recovering from a significant but successful medical procedure but not sure about Cruzan and Roamin. Plenilune will be back soon we hope.

I saw HockeyDad40 play the card for part of the BC contest. I sent him a PM to see if he wanted to get with us on the weekly contests. Anybody here know him? We could use more players.

Why overload your plate, besides you've done a wonderful job with the ROI results for years and years.

Just an observation. Tom runs another contest and it hasn't posted since the Breeders Cup. He didn't post Saturday at another contest either. Cruzan did so maybe he was just busy.

Roamin

He has been missing for the last three weeks in my own contests on my website

HE NEVER MISSES ONE AND USUALLY THE FIRST TO POST

We have a Great relationship via email on a regular basis
...... a good communication history
and I have not heard back from one email

I am genuinely concerned it may be related to the pandemic
hopefully not

I went over the scores of the 2 players in question and you were right, Don, in your calculations in the first place. In race 9, you gave Ruffian 5 points and I gave her only three. I missed that she had the win and the place and gave her the points for the win only. So now all is right with the world and we can have a peaceful Thanksgiving, if we dare. I'm still thinking about whether I should join my family in Little Rock or not. I have been isolating, but they haven't and not much way to do that with kids. I know for a fact my eldest grandson has been home from the University of Arkansas twice because of roommates that came down with Covid. So close to the vaccine becoming a reality, I might better forego Turkey Day.

Cal, that is a painful choice that you are describing, but it sounds like a wise one. Most of this year has been simply awful, but with good judgment and perhaps a bit of good fortune, we can safely make it to the time when an effective vaccine will provide added safety and protection.

Our Thanksgiving will be very different this year and it saddens me a lot. Our house has always been the place where everyone gathered for the Thanksgiving feast, gradually expanding to the long adult's table and the place where all the fun stuff happens, the kid's table. I have had the pleasure of opening the wine, offering some banal toast and then in my best Dumbledore imitation, saying, "Let the feast...begin"

Our daughters and we have decided to be cautious and not have our traditional gathering. Our youngest grandson has been tasked with figuring out a way to have a virtual gathering [perhaps by zoom], but I will miss the hugs and the chaos of passing all of the many platters and even the mock argument over the final slice of pie.

This too shall pass.

Yes, it's beginning to look like there is some light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. I spend a lot of time reading about things on the internet or watching TV. From that, I gathered that there are a lot of people that will supposedly be reluctant to take a vaccine. Can't say that I am in that camp. Would be first in line, if that were possible. As I understand it, vaccine will possibly be at least 90 per cent effective and maybe more which is way more than the flu vaccine. I say bring it on. Really no way for any of us to return to normal without it.

Thanks for scoring, Don Guido! And congratulations! I'm amazed that I did so well. I've only looked at Woodbine once and it was terrible. Looking forward to next week. I'll be swamped with tax reporting in January, but hope to take some time out to enjoy the races.

I'm with you, Cal. I'm looking forward to a vaccine and getting back to some semblance of normal. If it's good enough for Dr Fauci, it's good enough for me.

See you this weekend.

Just sayin, nothing against Cal but Ruffian is my proof reader, back checker and is usually, but not always, right when I mess up something. I was waiting for her to yield to his notes but nope. Please don't anyone shy away from checking me out on anything I say here or do here. Heck fire I'm 74 and I'm losing a bit of my razors edge . . . uhhh if I ever had one it's in my head.

We have a lot to be thankful for.

Patty had a good check up today with her new Nephrologist since she had some labs recently that sparked a consult with him. That puts her terrific medical care team to 7 Specialists. I must say they are excellent in all that they do for her. And everyone at the local CVS Pharmacy knows us well. Her numbers for her kidney function alerted a couple of them to dig deeper but findings today were not alarming. Her Wegener's Disease, now called Granulomatosis with polyangiitis,(Yep???) flared up a couple of months ago after managing it for 8 years now. Her second flare up after initial diagnosis (roughly every 4yrs of so). Four infusions of Retuxan (1 a week for 4 weeks) usually takes care of it after giving a couple of months kick in.

So the team of two amazing docs will help beat this down to normality, if there is normality at all anymore, and I will give a toast at our unusually small Thanksgiving Dinner at my daughters house (just 4 of us) to the Docs for keeping her as sound and well as she can be . . . and I'll probably shed a tear before I get it all out. That coupled with Parkinson's since 2012 has not been a easy ride for her. Both serious autoimmune diseases, so we keep her very much under wraps (masks) when we go anywhere at all during this crazy Covid time.

Usually with the downers and the challenges, there's always good that appears that you just have to find, celebrate and be thankful for.

I lift my glass to all of you for helping me enjoy this forum diversion in a sport that Patty and I love dearly. At times if I didn't have this and my Clemson Tigers to get excited about and occupy some of my time it would make my life a little harder to bare. But I'm OK and most importantly, Patty is OK.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! See y'all in the gate next Saturday.

And someone please try and get in touch with Roamin. He's had recent health issues.

MY NEW PUPPY = DIAMOND IN THE RUFF
(Dam: Sweet Caroline by Neil DIAMOND And RUFF for Me)
3 lbs Of Precious Pomeranian

She is consuming All of my time so I’m lucky to even post an entry
Much less check the totals to see if they are correct

I also find the scoring procedure for points a bit challenging
So I did not record my own points total this week

If I have time I will see what total I get
But for now will just presume that the Don got it right
