In race 8 horse #9 is named Tijuana Brass (KY). He scratched out. But just wondering if anyone else remembers Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass band? Pretty famous in the late 1960s. Boy, do I feel old, but seeing that name gave me a good chuckle.

This song was used in the TV show The Dating Game

^^^
I do. Tijuana Taxi, The Lonely Bull, Zorba the Greek, A Taste of Honey(although I think that one was first done by Dave Brubeck, but I like Herb Alpert's version too.)

Every once in awhile, I think of an old song and I look it up and listen and that leads to another and another and I end up listening for an hour or three.

Oh my gosh, that's too funny, A Taste of Honey, I immediately think of the Beatles. But yes, Herb covered it too!

Well, I think I was just plain wrong about a Taste of Honey. Done by Alpert, but not Brubeck. Sometimes my memory is just not all that reliable. Especially after a few years.

I can still visualize the cover to the album "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" from around 1965. For the time it was extremely risque. I think it lead off with A Taste of Honey. Funny, earlier this morning I found myself humming "Lemon Tree". I know that Trini Lopez did a vocal of that song, but I think that the TJB also did an instrumental of it.

Great trip down memory lane Plen and Cal. Better be careful, I'll start conjuring up PP&M, the Kingston Trio or Bellafonte and then where will we be?

Too late to be careful. Your mentioning the Kingston Trio triggered something and I had to look them up. Only song I could remember by them was Tom Dooley and I knew there had to be a lot more and of course there was and here is one that I never heard that I liked. Couldn't find anything with PP&M, the trio and Harry Belafonte, but this song has Mary Travers, Judy Collins, the trio and a whole lot more.

Puff the Magic Dragon. My tastes were a little more on the folk music side. Phil
Ochs, Joan Baez and the early Bob Dylan.
