I made a very big bet on the winner.....I have been waiting for him to run since he was scratched out of a similar spot a couple weeks ago. I hit the exacta but unfortunately did not bet tris.
This was a putover horse. Why would they ship from West Virginia? This guy never even ran a horse in NY before. |

Nice job. He took some late money, probably yours. Good thing you didnt bet Likely Statesmen. Didnt sound like you had that much conviction 1/2 hour ago.

Sharp handicapping. Connoisseur had been working out at Mountaineer. He was entered at Aqueduct in the 9th race on 12/17. He was scratched out of that race and had a 4f workout at Mountaineer also on 12/17. The scratch list shows him as a trainer scratch on 12/17. He was entered in Laurel on 12/22 but was scratched by the stewards in that race. Papers? Normally I would assume that since Mountaineer is dark until 1/20 the connections were just looking for a race. Since the horse is trained and owned by the same person I believe that your assertion of a putover horse is correct. The connections certainly knew they had a "live" horse and did not want to wait for a race at Mountaineer. Good call. |
