Default Oaklawn Newbie

If they have a12 horse starting gate why do they have 14 entries? Why
aren't 13,14 AE's. Thanks for your help

They are considered “also eligible” and would draw into the field if one of the horses in the main body of the field (the first 12) were to scratch (not run for whatever reason).

Except in races 12 and 14 where they actually have 14 starters.
