Winx! Again!

Winx has accomplished a lot and it's no easy feat. Huge congratulations to her going out a winner.

Yet, I got kind of bored. Yeah, I wrote that, bored. Fantastic winners like her are nothing to sneeze at. However, I get more excited about horses who run outside of their comfort zone.

When I think of extraordinary horses I think of those such as Enable who has won G1s in the UK, France, and the U.S. I know not all horses handle traveling well yet I truly believe Winx would have been brilliant at Ascot like Australia’s Black Caviar and the U.S.’s Lady Aurelia. Even if they had sent Winx to Dubai, I think she would have been wonderful. I just got bored of her doing the same ‘ol, same ‘ol.

Dare I say it? For me, it started feeling as if I was watching the Pepper’s Pride of Australia. Not that Pepper’s Pride is in any way the same league as Winx, it just became boring for me, anyway.

My hope is that she produces great runners that participate and win in races around the world. Now that will be a huge accomplishment.

One for Road: Winx Goes Out With 33rd Straight Win

It was a perfect day and she was the perfect racehorse, but now her job is done.

On an afternoon of near unprecedented expectation, adoration, and emotion,
the racing wonder that is Winx

She left the stage in style, bidding goodbye to her fans
with one last virtuoso performance.

There are questions that can never be answered, truths we can never know, such as where Winx ranks in the all-time pantheon of great horses.

What can be said for certain is when she was first to cross the finish line of the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1), Winx put the seal on a uniquely glorious career, one that has made her a true icon of Australian sport.

Each and every one of those present at Sydney's Royal Randwick racecourse would testify to that.

Tears flowed freely from those who have been at her side for so long as they realized that after four years of invincibility,
the final line of the final chapter had been written.
