To be honest, "I am not much of a beer drinker, but when I do, it's COORS"

We don't need to worry about Dos Equis having any equine references (including the possibility of running the beer through the horse before serving it - although Cal phrased it in a much more elegant way).
In fact, Dos Equis means two x's (XX) and even features two large X's on the label. Way back in the 20th century it was called "Twentieth Century", or Siglo XX. When the next century approached, a new name was used with the trademark XX carried over. At the same time, the ad campaign featuring the "most interesting man in the world" began and sales skyrocketed. As for the horse reference, in Spanish a horse is un caballo. Stay thirsty, my friends. |

Me too, but I can't remember the last time I even had a beer. I think it was in Las Vegas a few years ago and it was the product of Golden, Colorado. I'm not against drinking, but for me, it must have been just a social thing. I didn't set out to stop drinking, it just happened.

Sadly, my command of Spanish is almost nil; however, I did go to Tijuana a few times and of course most people there are bi-lingual so it didn't matter. Wife and I were coming back from a trip down there once and we were almost out of Mexico on the way back to San Diego and we were pulled over by a Mexican motorcycle cop. Being two hicks from Arkansas, we didn't realize the rental car we were driving was not insured to be in Mexico and that was the reason he pulled us over. He kept us there for a long time. I think he was looking for a bribe. We were in a rented Lincoln and I was wearing a $20 Rolex, I had just bought on Revolucion Boulevard so he probably thought we were rich. I guess he finally got tired of waiting for his
bribe or maybe thought we were too dumb to bribe him, and he let us go. |
