first crop sires

I think Johannesburg will be the leading freshman sire...he has some good ones out there. I also am intrigued by some of the better Yonaguska babies...he's had a few run but they were cheap auction purchases..the good ones will emerge soon....Officer will also have a solid freshman year..As for a cheaper stud, I think the Jump Starts are also very nice considering the type of mares he is getting and I think he'll surprise a lot of people...

I like Jump Start as well and Johannesburg has a very low strike rate thus far with his many foals that have debuted. Of course one of them is gong to be awesome, Scat Daddy, but overall I'm not seeing much yet and hes had quite a few runners. He had 115 foals in this crop so I would say that he will have his share of winners.

Can't wait to see Vindication in 2007...they were just touching the tip of the iceberg with this one's ability when he was retired. I think he's Slew's last champion

Maybe, but he was getting relatively faster with distance and he dominated that BC Juvenile after dueling through 46.0 and 109.4- which sheets fail to acknowledge as important in a 9f juvenile G1..the best was yet to come.

This is also correct but here inlies a fine example of understanding quality when you see it with your own eyes...he was a good horse with the potential to be very good and was only on the upswing when he crushed what I consider a pretty solid crop of juveniles in the BC...maybe not as good as the two BC Juveniles prior to that group, but Kafwain and Hold That Tiger weren't bad animals by any means....we'll see...another thing I like about him is that he is from an immaculate family and visually has a lot of the same qualities as Seattle Slew had....I've seen an adequate sample of his babies and they look very nice...he has stamped them with a lot of size and substance...they'll sell well in September...

Vindication has a solid pedigree. i find it interesting that when you look at the linebreeding chart there is no La Troienne. but you see 2 Baby Leagues, her daughter, and 3 Helen De Trois, her mother. indeed, his bottom line goes to Helene De Trois through her daughter reine de course Adargatis, 1/2 sister of La Troienne.

obviously La Troienne is in the pedigree but i find it interesting the way Vindication opens an opportunity to stimulate her influence other than just inbreeding La Troienne herself (which is not a bad thing).

I could not agree more...in fact, I really hope I'm right because I put my money where my mouth is with this one and bred him to my nicest mare this season for $60K..<<fingers crossed>>

Yeah, but I have tracked every single Johannesburg that has debuted in North America and I can tell you that none of the good ones have run yet....the 3 or so that have run at CD have been cheap auction purchases and none of those looked that great in the paddock....the real steamers will be out soon...As for Scat Daddy, he is the best juvenile I've seen perform thus far...
