HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE TO ALL
FOR THOSE CELEBRATING {This Frisky Feline’s Holiday Of Choice} ![]() The winter solstice will be today at 4:23 p.m. CST A full moon will help kick off astronomical winter and mark the so-called shortest day of the year. The 2018 winter solstice is today, at 4:23 p.m. CST to be exact. "Solstice" comes from the Latin words for "sun" and "to stand still." The solstice occurs at the moment the Earth's tilt away from the sun is at a maximum. Because of this the sun will appear at its lowest elevation and its position around noon will change very little for several days before and after the solstice, according to the National Weather Service. This solstice will also be close to the time of December's full moon, which will hit its fullest point on Saturday. However, it will appear full tonight as well. Each month's full moon has a nickname, many of which were coined by Native Americans. December's full moon is often called the "Cold Moon." (It is also sometimes called the Long Nights Moon.) |

Definitely fine by me.
My kidney decided it was on the heavy side. I just got out of Tampa General Hospital... I'm blessed with kidney stones. I got to go home for Christmas. That's all right by me. The wackos are already out running around. |
