Thank you ma'am. Had to happen sooner or later by luck, which it probably was, if for no other reason. Wish I had some of that luck for the ROI. Always seem to lose to some outrageous longshot that prevents me from winning the horizontal and vertical bets. I think I'll have to start employing the all button or do like some others here and do straight bets, although, I don't think that would have helped me in this last contest as the win candidates I liked didn't run that well.

I hope that you don't give up on the horizontal or vertical bets too quickly, Cal. I've always felt (and probably mentioned once too often) that the ROI contest is a wonderful opportunity for us to attempt to structure wagers that our bankrolls might not let us try in the real world. That especially applies to the more exotic wagers, either trifectas and supers, or pick 3's and 4's.

I hear what you are saying about the "all" button, or as I like to call it, the "mostly all" button, thinking that there are often some absolute throwouts that can keep the cost of a ticket from getting out of hand. My problem in the horizontal wagers is trying so hard to "have it", I will include a few too many combinations and if several short priced winners come in, I will end up with a winning ticket that cost me more than the payoff. It happened to me again this past Saturday with the early pick 4.

My belief is that in handicapping, the easiest part of the equation is selecting the horses. The most difficult part by far has to do with managing your money to be able to show a profit. The ROI helps us toward that goal.

Oh, yes, congrats on a well earned win in the Points contest.

Congrats on the win Cal. Nicely played. On your pick 4 Joly I was a bit surprised it paid so little.
