Timm,
During WW I there was a "truce". Between the trenches the opposing forces met in "no man's land". They shared rations, sang carols together, and found a bond that has been remembered ever since that Christmas Eve.
The next day, all was forgotten. The machine guns were again fired on their previous night's "friends".
Doubt this? I have a letter from my great uncle that recounts this. He served in the trenches of France in 1916-17. He was a "machine gunner".
He is long gone, yet his words remain that retell the same story everytime I read it.
Times change, yes.
Insanity, and those that do their "duty" to preserve it (propagandized though they are) continue.
Would I speak less against Gen. Burnside? Custer? Pol Pot? Hitler? Or any that are so willing to sacrifice the lives and limbs of others? Far too many for me to consider.
On a different thread, we have someone bashing "teachers". I promised not to participate in this person's threads, so I won't.
However, please tell me, without those that seek to bring truth and understanding, is there any hope that ignorance will ever be remedied?
As the words of the Peter, Paul, and Mary song, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" ask, "when will they ever learn?"
To me, there's much more than believing in harmful actions and the words that justify them, no matter what decade they are said.
Truth is much more powerful.

Good will to you, Timm.
