Songbird is a classic litmus test horse for people that get fooled by wins.

Zenyatta is a much better example.

Zen

Passed all she faced except one. And just missed. Ran by Every hoss in every race. What is it you are missing ?

Reasonable analogy.

However, at least Songbird runs in the right races and travels. It's not her fault her competition last year was ( outside of the BC ) a joke. She also has dangerous speed. But, undefeated records are pretty much due to a confluence of events which rate to include a lot of luck....especially when the horses with those records aren't particularly fast.

Even last year, after Arrogate clearly demonstrated the difference between mediocre supposed divisional leaders and actual greatness, the confusion regarding Songbird continues.

Back to back breeders cup classics are not the right races ?

It's a travesty they didn't bring Zenyatta to Saratoga, but don't blame the hoss.

Winning is the name of the game.

Dallas Stewart is smart not running his mare against this superstar filly who would break her spirit forever. ( pun intended)

Maybe you should have been paying attention last summer when she was right under your nose. You might have learned something that would pick up your game. Try looking at the actual hoss flesh and try to expand your game. It's not all racing forms and replays. It's not just you watching replays with a couple of guys at the replay booth or center. Everyone can click and watch any replay they want. Your bread and butter is much more accessible than ever and you must adjust or get left behind. You must know that you're slipping. Watch Songbird tomorrow. Try to see her greatness. Think back to Go For Wand. Even a rockhead could take one look at her and know she was special. Like a gift from God. Remember how exciting ng it was to see her in the flesh. Songbird might be that good.

I feel like I accidentally tuned in to a TV Evangelist broadcast.

Oh, it was no accident on your part. Reading it is much like rubber necking an accident you drive by on the road.

Yeah, that wasn't good. Reeks of Rachel Alexandra as a 4-year-old.

When these fillies go off they stay off....she ain't firing on all cylinders like, she was. I'd be nervous playing her into the fall.

Probably wont see her again. Kudos to Maggie for putting some perspective on that performance. Oh and I respect Stabile but IMO he's embarrassing himself with this best since Ruffian talk. Royal Delta IMO was much better then Songbird.

Have to agree that the Big A is totally out of sorts. Sweet guy has improved on air but geez man have a cocktail watch some of the other great fillies on you tube and move on. Extremely happy for Mr Porter but Round Pond would have beat Songbird today and that is not a glowing endorsement

The final quarter in 26.2 gutted her after loping on an uncontested lead with slugs behind her. Great career but lets be honest she was as dressed up as any Champion ever to run. She ran 1 outstanding race in her career, that would measure up in part to her ridiculous rep and it was in defeat (so what)

She drowned everyone for two years. What are you talking about freddy ? How many grade I races do you have to win ? All those fillies she thrashed showed promise.....then she came along and dashed their dreams. Try reading her pps and maybe watch a replay or 3.
