It's bad. Actually it was bad and is now worse.

How is it right to have the head of the Horsemen's Assoc at Parx be on the racing commission ? Isn't that a slight conflict of interest considering you are ruling on the people who you are paid by ? Guess not. Curios that apparently clear cut violations are amended for a non-defined reason.

How can you take a DQ'd horse who failed drug test and then decide to Un-DQ it, but not give it purse money back and then make it a DH ? It won by 5. Then you give it Black Type. Boggles the mind and smells as bad as it is.

No end in sight. Unfortunately people are using PA as justification to turn racing over to the feds. The only thing that needs to happen is that PA needs to be cleaned up.

Parx, the wild Wild West of horse racing. It's basically like all the trainers are the guys wearing red sashes in the movie Tombstone.

Prior to the race, Equibase published the race conditions, which included purse distribution based on order of finish. The racing commission modified the order of finish without redistributing the monies accordingly. Their ruling represents an outcome at odds with the stated stakes race conditions.

To resolve this ethically, Equibase should remove all references the race conditions and the official order of finish. Only running information should be included in the chart. The race class should be changed from Stakes to Exhibition.

The ones that lose out on black type may be hurt. But allowing that race to produce four black-type horses hurts all that earned it legitimately.

Well that makes sense. The only thing that doesn't make sense is putting that horse back in. If it's in, you get the purse, if it's out you don't. You don't get black type. It should be a determination, not a negotiated settlement.

Servis was a very kind gentleman when he let me meet my favorite horse to date, Rockport Harbor, but let's call a spade a spade. He most likely receives special treatment from the 'powers that be' at Parx for his success in 3 of the most prestigious races on the calendar. I could be totally off-base, but who knows. Seems to fall in line with some other bullchit that goes on there on a regular basis.
