He was against Always Dreaming (as was I), and the superfectas played by the Player's Pool were all his. There was nothing nefarious about the approach. Maybe it's just me, but a $30,000 pool of other people's money doesn't seem like a good occasion to take a strong stand against one of the most likely winners in the race.
