Seriously though, I'm up for the year. I hit a few pick 4's and had a great Derby day, a great time at the BC. The only track that put a beating on me was Del Mar.

Well maybe the poster meant that they $1800 was his own money. Maybe the rest of the wagers came from winnings from that initial $1800 investment. Does that make sense?

I pushed about $5000 through the windows for a wagering loss of $29. This comes out to negative $300-$400 when I include the expenses of internet wagering accounts and DRF's. I had a lot of fun for something like $30 per month. That's a winning season for me.

I broke even or ended up a little over. If you include poker... then I won a good amount considering what I bet. 6 tourney's at casino's total and 5 final tables including two 1'st a 3rd, 5th and most recently 7th. Bet maybe 500 and returned about 3,000 so I am up about 2500.
Horses I probably bet around 500 and returned 500-600 in that range. Not too bad in the gambling department this year!

Probably lose somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 to 1000 dollars annually,
but that's ok. Have no other vices. Don't drink or smoke. Too old to do the hibbity dibbity. If I didn't bet on horses, somebody would try to make a religion out of me.

If i would have bet Mountaineer only for the whole year i would've shown a profit.But since it took me about 6 months to decide to do that i with heavy heart have to confess i'm below the Mendoza line.

I'm down on horses as well, last i checked it was somewhere in the 350-400 range which all in all, for a year of fun, is so well worth it.

Down on the year...not sure how much. But on a more positive note, I practiced an infinite amount more patience this year at the windows than ever before. So all in all, I am pleased with the year I had. Just trying to continue the learning process.

Kev- You lost enough that last weekend of Saratoga to feed a 3rd world country. Dont think I have forgotten about you throwing chairs and slamming your fist at that simulcast place! Not to mention asking me for a quarter so you could buy a piece of cardboard pizza.
For a second there I swore we were twins separated at birth

Absolutely thrilled with the naysayers showing up. The same thing happened last year, on the Delmar forum and a couple of the computer people validated my earnings claims. So I started posting there. After posting about a $2000 hit in January 2006 on an $18 bet, then a $10,000 hit in early February on a $32 ticket they now tolerate me.
My home forum is Nola, but I post anywhere. In no particular order: Philcski: I hope my last PM was clear. Hooves: I buy the form in bulk, I use colored pens extensively, marking what is germane to that race such as; par times, internal fractions, turf rails and trainer intent. Collective races and understanding the condition book are strengths. Point: I do not know what a signature is. Spider: Thanks for the thread Scuds: I expect to have the FG pick 4 friday and will post it on this forum. Indeed the year is not over yet. Rupert: A normal week would be a $24 pick four bet on the best midwest track running on Sunday. I do play when I can get the DRF well ahead of time on Thurs or Friday, again in the midwest. I did play Delmar this past August, but will not again. Keeneland was very good to me this meet. I posted one horse per day 16 days, so $32 for the meet. I hit three winners (with six seconds) and the winners added up to $82, a salty but meaningless ROI indeed. Apologies to someone about Robbie Albarado. I was live at Louisiana Downs to three horses in the pick 4. And Robbie wiped out two of them, one was 30-1 and I would probably have taken down the pool (some 30,000) had he won. Robbie got seven days, but they paid 3 of 4 and I got almost $400 for each of the three tix. Good cappin. BBB

I NEVER lose more than $300 to $500 on my bad days, so my losses are controlled. It works for me, and I have a helluva good time. And when I get the nice win, I always celebrate and do something concrete with the $$ besides putting it back in the track. Nice dinner for the wife, or a good bottle of wine. Or some nice electronics or something. That said, I've been in less lettuce before in my life, and had an equally heckuva good time playing 9 races of $5 win/place bets. I just love horse racing.

I opened my Youbet account a month before the Kentucky Derby with $650 and I have played $100 to $500 most weekends and I still have $296 left with a weekend left. I have hit some good P3 and DDs and yes I have also ate alot of dirt.

I know there is something here in my home I could sell at the pawn shop tomorrow so I can put together a pick 3 - lets see - no, I sold it all to the pawn shop with nothing to show but some clothes that smell like Beulah Park
(this was all in humor)I ventured into the Pick 3 and 4 land this year, smartest thing I ever did. I hit a nice Pick 4 this Spring, another one this summer, and some nice Pick 3's all thru the year. I lost money this year gambling no question, but did not keep track of how much. I don't care to be honest, I have a nice place, some food in the fridge and freezer and my bills are paid, some of them

So far,
i have managed to show a marginal profit from strictly a money in vs money out standpoint. but when you consider all the expenses associated with my wagering, Im sure I am down. gas money spent going to the track, daily racing form costs, online past performances expenses, and just general time spent on this game. no way I came out on top. but I dont care. some ppl spend money on ppl they care about. I spend money on myself and the things I enjoy like gambling. Repent
