Lovely book, though. And here's what I found so funny about those protests-- the stuff that made the Christian Right so angry was the stuff that happened in Christ's temptation-- rather than offering money and power, the Devil offered a chance to fall in love and marry have a normal life, and that's what Christ chose to give up for mankind. It wasn't real; it was a temptation. Which, it seems to me, is a lot more painful, and therefore more powerful than giving up a chance for money. But the Religious Right are so screwed up about sex (no pun intended) that they couldn't see beyond that particular tree to what the movie (and book) was actually saying. I somehow doubt "Black Christmas" is offering any sort of similar message, though. Though I bet that movie will feature sex prominently. In fact, really, the religious right should LOVE slasher films, since they all seem to say, "Have sex and a crazy axe/chainsaw/knives for glove fingers wielding guy will kill you." Heck, I'm surprised they aren't organizing church groups to go see the film-- look what happens when you have sex on Christmas!
