Why not showcase her here in the Personal Ensign?
One race doesn't make your narrative. Doubt her all you'd like but I commend Mandella for being a true competitor.

And a nod to B. Wayne Hughes too..

The notion that she should travel cross country is ridiculous when she can run out of her stall to defend a title in the meet's highlight handicap race.

I'll eat crow now, or at least when she runs. I was sure her last race was a good enough excuse to call it good with her. Good on Hughes and Mandella!

That's a given. It's nice to see the connections do the right thing and go for the repeat.

I don't understand the complaint. If you don't like the horse you'd figure her going in this spot produces betting value.

Oh well it's a moot point. She's running where she belongs.

It's been a long time since I've been this excited to watch a race.

This from Bloodhorse, after Beholder went a half in :47 in her final serious work before the race:

When Mandella met Beholder and Painter back at the barn following the exercise, he asked his rider how she went.

Painter, who has worked for the Mandella barn since 1998, just shook her head from side to side in amazement.

"Oh, boy. Oh, man," was her comment.

Its been a long time since I have been this excited to bet on a race. Dortmund wont be the favorite, and he wont even be the 2nd choice. Huge value in the multis, especially since he is the big horse in the division along with Frosted.
