Best OTB options outside metro NOLA are racetrack ones. In Lafayette region, Evangeline Downs, Cresswell Lane exit, Opelousas, is top choice. Long-closed EvD OTB in Alexandria was dump.
I did Kentucky Derby day at EVD which strains its resources. Otherwise, good choice. Last advice, restrooms are bigger & cleaner in casino part of facility. I live about 75 minutes from there. Dining treat for race tracker is Waffle House located in Walmart parking lot. On Cresswell between I-49 and EvD entrance road.
