I for one, forgot that Cherry Wine got nosed out of the Kentucky Derby by My Man Sam finishing ahead of him in a Prep Race.
Cherry Wine was coming in the Preakness,comments are .. (hit gate, rail 1/4, game) Exaggerator had a Very Clean trip, comments are ( rail, angled 6w, lug in ). Nyquist,in finishing third, was only able to hold off Stradivari ( rank early, carried 6 wd), Nyquist comments are .... duel 3-4w alt out 1/8 Uncle Lino and Awesome Speed did their job in keeping Nyquist busy from the start of the race. Uncle Lino finished 7th ( duel inside foe, ret SORE) and Awesome Speed finished 9th ( 4-5 wide bid, 1/2, tired ) Lani - finished 5th after a troubled start ( bobbled, stdy upper) Lani raced 11th until the stretch and then passed horses that were "cooked". Three weeks THE BELMONT STAKES ! Question is .... Was it to be NYQUIST's Triple Crown this Year OR was it to be EXAGGERATOR's Triple Crown this Year ? That is why you do not win races on paper .. the have to race Looking like a great battle this 3 year old season if the colts all stay healthy.
