Reading the charts (Douglas' mounts) for the past 4-5 days may shed some light on the facts.
I don't feel that Calder does this without some merit.
Doesn't make sense. He wins the 8th and is kicked out before the 9th. Fight in jocks room? Winning tickets or batteries falling out of the silks, visa problems?

Weird... he was the king of Calder when I worked there back in the early 90s, even winning seven on a day once. He's had a very rough patch recently, what with his brother dying of an overdose and his father battling illness. I can't imagine what he's done to cause Calder to do this, but if I know Ken Dunn it's not something to snivel at. And I'd go so far as to say it's got little to do with any kind of riding infraction as the races are governed by the FL Dept of Pari-Mutuel Wagering and Calder has to follow their procedures first.

It'll be interesting to see what shakes out in the next few days...

Default Douglas Situation Update..

The Rene Douglas 'rule off' situation continues to evolve and it appears there may be a great deal of residual fallout to it... NO ONE, except Calder senior management and potentially those involved in the specifics, is prepared to reveal the motivations behind the action taken yesterday barring Douglas from the Miami oval...

With no details being released, rumors are rather rampant at Calder and beyond, but strong suggestion has been made that what is behind the ban of Douglas has nothing to do with his work at the CDI-owned circuit..

There are a number of potentially accurate details in this that have come forward, but until a quoteable on-the-record source is willing to provide specific details, it appears idle to speculate further...

More if and when it comes our way..

(Dixie knows though, so you may want to contact him for the story...)

Steve,
I called my guy friend at Calder and he really had no idea what had happened which shocked me because usually hes got the info on everything. Said the same thing as you, that so many rumors were flying around that it was impossible to tell which were right and which were bull****.

So why post this, so you can tell everyone you are 'in the know'?
