Default Gulfstream 6 - 1/1/16

I have seen bonehead jocks misjudge the finish of a race before, but can't say I have ever seen it in the fashion that bug Gerardo Corrales invented today!

In a 1 7/16 three turn race he apparently thought that they invented quarter horse turf racing by driving his 80-1 shot around the first turn to the wire thinking he won the race! Well worth the look for the amusement!

Wow; that's a first, especially in a three turn race! Hilarious.

For these types of races maybe they should implement racing flags as in NASCAR.

Exactly. It would actually be nice to see him shipped to Delta Downs and maybe he can figure out number of turns in a race and how to read a freakin form there.

because I am rooting for him to be successful.

He is a young up-and-coming jockey. He is going to make mistakes, just like any other human being. I actually think he will be an excellent jockey, especially on dirt sprint speed horses ( as I am sure you noticed yesterday )

for those keeping track: he is 6 wins from 8 mounts for Jorge Navarro

the great willie shoemaker misjudged a finish line, and what made it worse was it was the ky derby, and he'd have won.
i'm glad the jock won later, his day wasn't a total loss. i'm also glad that when i mess up, i don't do it on a camera in front of a crowd.
now, i'd have laughed had i been there. had i bet his horse i'd have cussed...but i do feel bad for him! how embarrassing.

It's not that simple.

I feel bad for the people that bet that horse in any spot, as well as those that needed the runner-up to win at 30+:1. I have no idea how ANYONE could feel bad for the rider in this particular situation. The betting public deserves better.

There is misjudging the finish line and being totally unprepared for the job that you are doing and misjudging by a mile. Doesn't take a lot of effort or attention to note the distance of the race you are riding in.

an appalling lack of concentration for sure.
