Over-bred? Probably. Beat no one? Debatable... but he's got a decent pedigree.

Ignoring the lack of appeal of his sire Montbrook and his broodmare sire, his female family is quite solid. Its one of the best Canadian families in the studbook with top stallion Night Shift, and Australian super-stallion Encosta de Lago and multiple Canadian champions to their credit.

He should be a good outcross for a lot of mares, and you can never ignore Lalun blood that close up in a pedigree, which is harder and harder to find. Would love to see some Sadler's Wells line mares go to him. Sadler's Wells is remarkable with Lalun blood.

But for the record, he's a "sit and wait" type with me. I wouldnt breed to him until he proved himself. But he's far from dull pedigree wise.

yea but you can find a positive in the breeding of almost any horse.

come on, you even got my hopes up for the 2008 debut of the Boundary-Bailar baby. We all know it's going to be running up the track in Hawthorne 10K maiden claimers by the winter of her 2yo season!

But thanks for the hope

Absolutely not... most horses have crap families behind them. This guy just doesnt fit that bill. And for the record, I told you I didnt like Boundary but that the family wasnt "horrible".

You are really reaching there. His mother was a very mediocre $ 6250 claimer her whole career at Calder, and he is the only foal from her that had any ability whatsoever.

One mare a family doesnt make. The whole concept of breeding with the class of the family in mind is "Family over individual".

Secretariat's dam was unplaced on the track. But that female family is as solid as it comes, and Somethingroyal turned out to be a bluehen. She's by no means the only underachiever to start a legacy in the shed because of those great genes behind her...

Hell, the GREAT La Troienne couldnt outrun a fat girl... but look at what she accomplished in the shed, all due to class of the female family. But, in La Troienne's defense, she was started in company well over her head. But regardles!!!

He has a lot of similairites to Lion Heart.

Lion Heart's dam, raced for $5K claimers at Suffolk at one time. Lion Heart was also a seven figure 2-year-old in training buy off the basis of a sensational workout. I believe he sold for like $90K as a yearling the prior year.

Chapel Royal was a $1,200,000 OBS sales topper off the basis of a strong under-tack showing.

I see CR as a poor man's Lion Heart...at best.

I was at his signing party in Vegas with my internship earlier in the year. He has my respect for turning down Paris Hilton at the end of the night after she spent the whole night calling him "baby" and trying to make out with him in VIP. He's buddies with Nick Lache who's a cool character too. They helped us load all the equipment at like 5am after everyone left.

call me crazy but I'D turn down Paris Hilton. Talk about baggage, she's got a Coach outlet full.

I find her disgusting... but just saying... most guys would go after a chain link fence if they had enough band-aids and lubricant.

I can't take credit for that one. Crown and Club was the guy who caught it with a sharp eye. I just reported it.
