Yeah, you seem real neutral when I bring up the litany of issues with him over the years and your only reaction is YA WHATEVER WINZZZ

Glad you think it's OK for him to show up drunk TIME AND TIME AGAIN in a profession where someone could die at any moment and for him to cost thousands of people money TIME AND TIME AGAIN because he doesn't feel like trying sometimes. Glad that's acceptable behavior to you.

DMR: Stewards vote 2-1 for no fine or suspension for Desormeaux
Jay Privman , Del Mar , 2015-11-08 - DRF Live Posted : 5hrs 13mins ago

Jockey Kent Desormeaux will not be fined nor suspended for his ride aboard in Saturday's fourth race, in which favored WHAT A VIEW was caught right on the wire with Desormeaux, to some observers, appearing to stop riding aggressively before the finish and then rising in the saddle as the horses got to the finish.

In a majority decision, Del Mar stewards Kim Sawyer and Tom Ward voted for no penalty, while steward Scott Chaney dissented, believing a penalty was warranted. They made their opinions known on Sunday afternoon after meeting with Desormeaux in the morning.

"We had Kent in, went over the video extensively, and did not feel there was enough evidence on the video" to penalize, said Ward, who said he believed the pan shot of the race showed What A View trying to pull himself up at the sixteenth pole after making the lead.

Sawyer agreed there should be no sanction, saying she believed Desormeaux's testimony that What A View was trying to "get out."

"He felt he was doing all he could," Sawyer said.

Sawyer said Desormeaux said that, in hindsight, he wished he had hit What A View once left-handed.

Sawyer also said Desormeaux was reminded about his past transgressions in matters such as this. He has been cited going back more than 20 years for not riding to the finish.

Chaney did not agree with his colleagues. "You win some, you lose some," he said.

Chaney said that the minutes filed to the California Horse Racing Board would reflect the different opinions of the stewards on this incident.

Always good to see stewards protecting the bettors.

ahhh, you gotta take care of your own so to speak. Thats just the way it works.

If you bet on a guy like KD, with his issues and his past, do you still have the right to be upset?

I wouldnt trust any of these stewards.

Kd, notorious serial non finisher, is one of their own? No bettors, no product.

If the bettor was truly important they would be protected more in situations like this as CJ pointed out. This is only example 10,000 were that is not the case.

He wasnt drunk riding that horse but you seem to think he is always. Any past issues with alcoholism he has had, he has been dealt with and if he does it again, he should be punished.

Never said that. I said he stopped trying on a horse with hundreds of thousands of dollars on it and this is just the latest in a long string of incidents with him putting people in danger and/or costing people money. It is plainly unacceptable to me and I don't understand how anyone with any skin in this game can be OK with it.

Unfortunately, there are many situations in this game that people are "o.k with" that shouldn't be. I guess in this case, only Kim and Tim were. Right or wrong, I'm sure this will blow over (if it hasn't already) and it will be business as usual in a day or two.
