Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Tuesday Hips to Watch
by Glenye Cain Oakford

Hip 106 - The Lane's End agency consigns this Speightstown colt out of Indyan Giving. The dam is unraced, but she is an A.P. Indy half sister to champion Fleet Indian. This Feb. 10 foal is her first foal.

Hip 115 - Stonestreet (Summerfield, agent) offers this son of Scat Daddy out of the Fusaichi Pegasus winner Kauai Calls. His dam is out of graded winner and grade I-placed Collect Call, now the dam of dual graded winner and sire Old Fashioned . Also further back in the pedigree is grade I winner Mitterand.

Hip 122 - This colt is from the final crop of the well-regarded sire Harlan's Holiday. The youngster is a half brother to grade III-placed Tiger Walk, out of the Kris S. mare Majestic Trail. His third dam, Andover Way, was a grade I winner who also produced the outstanding sire Dynaformer and is the second dam of grade I winner and sire Offlee Wild . Machmer Hall and Montese LLC (Select Sales, agent) are the consignors.

Hip 138 - Smart Strike 's son out of the Deputy Minister mare Noble Idea is a full sibling to recent 3-year-old winner Ground Rules and a half sibling to two other winners: Rockhard N Noble and Great Thought. Offered by the Baccari Bloodstock agency, the May 8 foal's dam is a half sister to grade I winner and stakes-producer Key Phrase and to Common Hope, the dam of champion Shared Belief.

Hip 142 - Sired by Pioneerof the Nile , who got Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, this filly is out of the winning Pulpit mare Paradise Bound. The dam is a half sister to graded winner Unbridled Humor and goes back to the good racemare and producer Icy Warning, whose daughter Cool Slew foaled a grade I-placed stakes winner in Globetrotter. Eatons Sales consigns.

Hip 156 - This Tapit filly brought an eye-popping $750,000 from Roma Farm (via agent J.J. Crupi) at last year's Keeneland November auction when she was a weanling, making her one of the most noteworthy pinhooking gambles in recent years. Offered now through the Taylor Made Sales Agency, she sports an attractive pedigree as the first foal out of the stakes-placed Bluegrass Cat mare Ithinkisawapudycat, a half sister to Canadian champion Spring in the Air. Other runners from the family include multiple graded winner and millionaire Tejano Run and group I winner Palace Episode.

Hip 158 - Hurstland Farm's consignment features this Bernardini colt out of graded-placed stakes winner Please Sign In, by Doc's Leader. The colt is a half brother to a pair of top-class performers: European champion and group 1 winner Certify and grade I winner Cry and Catch Me.

Hip 160 - This Tapit filly is out of the stakes winner Princess Arabella, by Any Given Saturday. Consigned by Lane's End, she is out of a half sister to multiple graded-placed stakes winner Dyna's Lassie from the family of 2001 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) second Invisible Ink.

Hip 170 - Malibu Moon's New York-bred daughter out of Red Hot Bertie (Tabasco Cat) is a full sister to two-time graded-placed Cue the Moon and a half sister to stakes winner Red Hot Buddha and stakes-placed Knockout Bertie. This is also the family of Alabama Stakes (gr. I) runner-up and multiple graded winner Allamerican Bertie and multiple graded winner Hurricane Bertie. The Hill 'n' Dale Sale Agency consigns.

Hip 175 - By Smart Strike, this colt is the second foal out of Oak Leaf Stakes (gr. I) winner Rigoletta, who also is a full sister to track record-setting stakes performer Evening Concerto. The family also includes 2011 champion female sprinter and Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (gr. I) winner Musical Romance and graded-winning millionaire Gourmet Dinner. Gainesway consigns as agent.

Hip 182 - The Taylor Made Sales agency fields this Tapit colt, the first foal out of grade III winner Savvy Supreme. The dam is a full sister to two-time Whitney Handicap (gr. I) winner and $2 million earner Commentator, and this is the family that also produced grade I winner and $4 million earner Behrens.

Hip 205 - This full brother to grade II-placed stakes winner Doctor Chit is the only War Front to be offered on Tuesday and the only War Front colt in the auction. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent, he got a good catalog update when his half sister T'as d'Beaux Yeux (Desert Party ) became a winner. This also is the family of notable sire Mr. Greeley and of champion and 2007 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner and sire Street Sense .

Joe Nevills from DRF had this quick Periscope with the buyer of the $1.4 million Street Cry-Rcuandry. And the winner is...

https://www.periscope.tv/w/aJqUIzM1M...Fw15AblYjSLg==

John Ferguson. Colt is apparently Europe bound.

Racing/sales people on Twitter seem surprised the Princess Arabella filly was $750,000 and not $1 million+. Nevills' scouting report said if anybody could hit $2 mil it might be this one. http://live.drf.com/nuggets/19494 Apparently folks were buzzing about her a ton pre-sale so not sure what was up with that. The Harlan's Holiday filly before her was massive. Couldn't be so simple as that making her look smaller than she was, surely. Melissa Bauer-Herzog says she was sold, not RNA'd.

PS. I'm not seeing the outs on the F-T site. I'm probably just being blind, but I can't find it easily. Kinda bummed to realize the $950K weanling Tapit pinhook, Hip #156 was an out. Saving her for Keeneland September?

ETA: Boyd Browning's emotional reflection on the sales, again via Nevills. https://www.periscope.tv/w/aJqr2zM1M...60g4o0cYUqmg==
