What is Skinner Box's excuse there? Had everything her own way. Geez.

I've started looking at things of this sort differently. It's all about the trainer. Clearly, he just didn't have this horse tight enough. He failed; not the horse.

Wouldn't say he failed. Horse missed works from June 24 to July 18 which is very unlike him. Something had to have been wrong and because of that she wasn't ready.

The horse was run at a few times last out and she held very well. She's supposed to be MORE fit coming out of that race than going in. Today, she has it all her own way and just collapses. Clearly, given that the last race TIGHTENED her and she didn't run like it today, the trainer obviously didn't do something right. If there were issues and she couldn't train, he should've scratched her until she was fit again. I mean, last race did all the work for him. All he had to do was sustain her fitness. He failed.

Brian Cheyne surprised me. I expected an idiot ride but I got something much more than that: Doesn't get early position; gives up the rail to the 4 early backstretch; gets squeezed back on the turn; finishes like a nonagenarian.

Very interesting race. Indebted, Clement's perfect trip (inside suckup) winner last out opened at even money and is starting to creep up. See how he enjoys actually have to put in a real effort over a very long stretch. Conquest Pacemaker won about as easily as any horse I've seen over the past 30 years last out. But, suprisingly, to some extent, Husbands stays with the other Casse (owned by Oxley), Flashaway. Maybe Oxley insisted he stay on or maybe Husbands thinks the 8 is better than the 6. I don't. $200 win 6 $60 ex 6/5,8 $30 ex 5,8/3 $20 tri 6/5,8/5,8 |
